OUR MISSION
The mission of this program is to provide additional opportunities for instrumental students to grow in a creative environment through jazz instruction. The methods used to enrich students’ musical experiences will include improvisation, creative literature, masterclasses, workshops, and performances with nationally acclaimed musicians. Musical and leadership skills gained through the program can then be brought back and shared with the students’ own school programs.
BRIEF PROGRAM HISTORY
The Missoula All-City Jazz Program was founded in 2017 to provide local high school musicians with an opportunity to develop their improvisation skills in a small-group setting separate from their existing band programs. The organization, which annually serves 25–35 student musicians, now provides an educational experience for both high school and middle school students throughout the Missoula community. Students perform at Missoula on Main (formerly First Night Missoula), Jazzoula, the UM Buddy DeFranco Jazz Festival, and other community events.
The All-City season begins in October and runs through May.
*Priority Registration Deadline: Sept. 25, 2026
All-City Jazz is fiscally sponsored by Arts Missoula
